The scout from the "Komlov" battalion ("Morozov" brigade, Disne district) Siomek Lakach (Disne) together with five of his comrades ran into deadly fire from a German ambush that amounted to more than fiftyb men (26 July, 1943).A battle erupted between them and the superior German force. Siumek sowed fire right and left with his submachine gun, and encouraged the soldiers: "Comrades don't give up, fire to the last bullet!" After being wounded he got up and threw his grenade and killed some Germans. Many of the twelve Germans who fell, fell by his hand. He gave up his spirit knowing he had taken his revenge!

Also Moshe Hofman, partisan in the "Mazikin" brigade (named after its leader), gave up his young life to rescue Jews. In the brigade he was known as a brave and talented scout, he was one of the blood avengers of the blood of the Jews, and with his own hands fired in the eyes of all, in the face of the lines of soldiers of Boicher Zanus, who handed over a group of Jews into the hands of the Germans, at the end of February 1944. Three Jewish partisans--Moshe Hofman, Leib Berzon (Disna) and Yitzhak Aron (Mior) were commanded by the commissar of the sixth battalion to scout for information on the German forces in positioned in the town of Mior, and the state of morale of the Polish inhabitants in the area, during the return to their batallions' base on the Disna-Mior road (by the village of Yakoboshchizna) they were suddenly surrounded by about a hundred Germans and guards, who demanded the surrender of the Jews. In reply to their demand Hofman opened fire and hit some Germans. Being wounded in three parts of the body he continued to fire his gun to cover the retreat of his comrades, who managed to get away. An enemy bullet crushed his temple and silenced him and his gun. In the time before the burial Karpov, the commander of the batallion, lamented, and said to the others: "Today there fell one of the bravest heroes among the comrades in our brigade".
