The Disne Memorial Book, Page 5

Like any book composed by a collective, the present book grew out of a kaleidoscopic assortment of material, which has been gathered with a great deal of effort over a period of many years.

Some comrades have written especially for the book, others wrote their manuscripts many years ago, as memoirs or articles, and all in Hebrew, Yiddish, Polish, English, and Russian.

Naturally, this material had not been organized and edited for publication as a memorial volume--with repetition of similar facts, with the style not polished etc.

We hope that the esteemed writers will forgive us, if they should find their words sometimes abbreviated.

The initial arrangement of the material was provided by Mr. Dov Bernstein, who has written and edited the Hebrew sections of the book. He sorted, transltated, and assembled parts from many manuscripts, which have complemented one another, and created a book.

Great effort has been devoted to the book by our comrade Shalom Tsirlin, who has, in addition to his duties as managing editor, also edited the Yiddish part of the book and translated into Yiddish articles written in Russian, Polish, and Hebrew.

The editorial board wishes to express its gratitude to all who have contributed their writing to the book, furnished it with pictures of our old home, and contributed their efforts in various ways, in the course of the time during which the book was created, toward its appearance.
